Exact same thing, Mason twist was named for P90X after the director of the video Mason Bendewald.  Tony has named moves after people he knows (Fifer scissors (Scott Fifer).  Russian twists have been around longer then P90X but people who do P90X know the move from ab ripper X as Mason Twist.
